Mrs Doris Chong – Founder and Principal

Doris graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts with a Bachelor Degree in Fine Art (Ballet), then proceeded to obtain her Master Degree in Arts Management from City University of London. She worked for the Education and Outreach Unit of The Hong Kong Ballet Company for four years and has been involved in Ballet and Dance Education since 1992.

Doris is a RAD Registered Teacher and has over 30 years of teaching experience. In 2013, she established Meadow Ballet Centre’s first competition team and since then, her students have competed in Malaysia, Japan, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam and Hong Kong, winning numerous prizes and scholarships to renowned ballet programs globally. Most notably, she has trained Meadow Ballet Centre alumni who are currently studying at the Dutch National Ballet Academy and the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. She has a genuine passion and interest in furthering her students’ potential to ensure that no talent goes undeveloped.

Our Teachers

Ms Fasha Moosdeen - Ballet Teacher

Fasha started training under the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) in classical ballet at the age of four. Throughout her ballet training, she excelled in her examinations by obtaining highly commended and honors in her Advanced grades. Fasha began her teaching career by becoming an assistant ballet teacher at the age of 15. In addition to this, she obtained a diploma in Spanish and a degree in Mechatronics Engineering. She is a dedicated teacher of Meadow Ballet Centre since she joined in 2012. Fasha is a passionate ballet teacher who focuses on classical technicalities and has a great appreciation for dance.

Ms Janice Ong - Ballet Teacher

A graduate of the RAD Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies (CBTS) programme and a certified teacher in the Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT), Janice is a RAD-registered teacher with more than eight years of ballet teaching experience. She started dancing at the age of five and has been actively involved in ballet dancing since then. Her ballet-related experience includes choreographing for concerts and training students for ballet competitions. She has been with Meadow Ballet Centre since 2016.

Ms Charis Sim - Jazz Teacher

Charis started as a fitness enthusiast and is a certified Yoga and Yogalates instructor by Surya Yoga (TTC & Yoga Sticks and Therapy) and began teaching back in 2015. She also does private coaching with her certification of ‘Health and Fitness Nutrient’ and ‘Body Transformation’. Charis actively practices Yoga, Pilates and Barre and she began teaching modern street dance and Jazz professionally in 2014. Among her achievements include landing ‘Top 2’ in ‘Line Dance Competition’ held in Penang and a ‘Semi-finalist’ in ‘Clash of Kings’ in 2014. Prior to being a dance instructor, Charis has actively performed and choreographed dances for corporate events, annual dinners, weddings and celebrations. She has been affiliated with Meadow Ballet Centre since 2018 as a Jazz dance teacher.

Ms Chang Shi Thing - Pianist

Ms Chang started to play the piano at the age of 6. She began her tertiary education in Music at the Sedaya College (UCSI) in 1997 followed by an enrolment in Middlesex University, London where she received her bachelor’s degree in Music (Honours) in 2001. After returning to Kuala Lumpur she taught private lessons in various music schools such as KL Piano Store. Ms Chang often performs as a piano accompanist for instrumentalists, choirs and solo performances. At the age of 37, she started to learn ballet and passed the RAD Grade 7 and Intermediate Foundation ballet exams. She has been with Meadow Ballet Centre since 2011 and has grown passion in both ballet and music.

Ms Clara Yoon - Guest Ballet Teacher

Clara is a professional and qualified dancer and instructor with more than 15 years of experience in the industry. Originally from South Korea, she pursued her passion in the University of Sejong, Seoul and attained a bachelor’s degree in ‘Ballet’. She has attained a few awards in University such as First Prize in ‘Paquita’ at University Ballet Classic Concourse in 2010 and Silver Award in an ‘Invisible Future’ Contemporary Competition. After graduating, Clara taught Pilates, Yoga and Ballet back in Seoul before landing a job as a Ballet instructor at Turnverein Eintracht and taught both Yoga and Ballet at Sportspark, Cochem-Dohr, Germany between 2017 – 2018. She has been guest teaching at Meadow Ballet Centre since August 2020.

Mr Alexey Dmitrenko - Guest Ballet and Contemporary Teacher

Alexey Dmitrenko received classical ballet education at the Ballet Academy of Moscow and the Academy of dance of the Vienna State Opera. He had the opportunity to perform for many acclaimed companies such as Oregon Ballet Theater (USA), Vienna Volksopera and Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck (Austria), State Ballet Thuringen, Tanzcompagnie Giessen (Germany) to name a few. Alexey has been part of an artistic program in Indonesia between 2016 and 2018, where he was part of the artistic team of “Embodied Arts Bali” and “Paradiso Ubud”. He had been invited to teach and choreograph dances for schools in Malaysia, including Meadow Ballet Centre from 2019.

Ms Ekaterina Gusarova - Guest Ballet Teacher

Trained at the Vaganova Ballet Academy and a certified Pilates instructor, Ekaterina has professional experience in performing and teaching dance. She was Principal Dancer with the Moscow State Ballet and has also danced with the Mikhaylovsky Theatre and the Yacobsen State Ballet in the corps de ballet. Her repertoire includes main roles in Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Nutcracker, Giselle and Les Sylphides. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree at the Lesgaft National State University of Physical Education, Sport and Health. She is a highly experienced and technical dancer. Ekaterina joined Meadow Ballet Centre as a Guest Teacher in 2020.
